Hi Andrew! My name is Therese, an Independent Advisor.

Try resetting the Skype local settings:

1. Open Task Manager and end the process of all Skype.exe
2. On your keyboard, press and hold Windows key + R to open the RUN box
3. Type %appdata%\microsoft and press Enter
4. Locate Skype for Desktop folder
5. Rename the folder to Skype for Desktop_old

See if this makes a difference.

Kind regards,
Therese`

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool.

Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file.

Do you have any antivirus software?

Also, can you please check if you can access Skype for Web https://web.skype.com/

This client only supports MS Edge and the latest version of Google Chrome.

Kind regards,
Therese`

The last about2 years Windows updates are missing on your Windows 7 system.

Open Windows Update and install all missing/pending updates.

After the updates are installed, run now the System Information tool ( msinfo32 )

Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type msinfo32.exe and press the OK button. This will open the System Information window. In this window click on File and select Export . Save the msinfo.txt file to your hard drive and upload this file on your File Sharing site.

When I run Windows Updates it says there are 2 pending updates but they won't install due to an error.  I'm not really looking to determine why this is failing right now.  Here is the msinfo32: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1El7KiPP8EU05BgiHa_8uyznFq6Ag10U7/view?usp=sharing

I suspect that the issue is caused by Norton Security Suite blocking execution of JavaScript on your computer.

I would suggest to uninstall Norton software.

Uninstall Norton device security on Windows

After uninstalling Norton, you should also try again to install the missing Windows upates.

Another possible issue might be with the Sandboxie application. Try to disable this application.

I kind of need anti virus so uninstalling Norton is not an option.  I tried completely disabling protection from it which made no change.  Tried uninstalling Sandboxie, no change.  I was able to install the windows updates though after finding a solution via Google.  There must be something else I can do though.
